Two popular beaches -- in Rye and New Rochelle -- are normally closed on Tuesdays.
With high humidity and temperatures forecast to exceed 90 degrees in Westchester at least through Tuesday, the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation has opened up County beaches to help County residents cope with the heat.
Both Glen Island beach in New Rochelle and Playland beach in Rye will be open Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Unfortunately for residents of Croton-on-Hudson, Cortlandt and other northern Westchester communities, Croton Point Beach will remain closed until regular hours of operation on Wednesday, Aug. 8.
- Playland Pool also will be closed until Wednesday.
- Glen Island Beach is located on Weyman Avenue in New Rochelle.
- Playland Beach is located at Playland Park in Rye at One Playland Parkway.
